Vacancy: Programme Officer: Executive Education Programme
The Mandela School has the position of, Programme Officer: Executive Education Programme vacant.
Applications are invited for the position of Programme Officer: Executive Education in the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance, for a permanent contract. This is a varied and responsible position in a new and growing School, which runs a Post Graduate Programme, an Executive Education Programme, a Building Bridges Programme and Research Programmes, with a series of networking, teaching, programmatic and research activities.
The Programme Officer will work closely with the Programme Manager: Executive Education Programme and Executive Education team and be actively involved in all aspects of the courses and events delivered through the programme, with a strong project management component to the role. The Programme Officer will lead the development and delivery of certain courses offered by the Executive Education programme – including a major project with a focus on leadership development for women in local government.
Minimum requirements:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field, e.g. public policy, development studies, instructional design or adult learning.
- 5 years’ relevant experience in either development policy-related work, project management, partnership development, executive education or training.
- Relevant experience in instructional design and the preparation of learning materials for post-graduate adult learners.
- Proven experience with short course planning and coordination.
- Proven experience in liaising with key stakeholders for the executive education courses.
- Proven and strong report writing skills.
- Proven experience in supporting the development of proposals for the South African Government tenders and/or other potential funders.
- Strong communications skills - verbal and written.
- High degree of organization skills.
- Proficient with Ms Word, Ms Excel and Ms PowerPoint.
- Very strong interpersonal skills: - Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships; - “Self-starter” with appetite for work and learning; - Absolute reliability.
The following will be advantageous:
- Knowledge of public policy or governance and/or development in Africa.
- Knowledge of pedagogy and strategies for professional training.
- Expertise in leadership development.
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
- Proven experience in dealing with government departments. Key responsibilities will include:
- With support, lead the development and delivery of a large ‘Women in Leadership’ training programme for SALGA, and other identified projects, as needed
- Support programme planning, delivery and monitoring
- Prepare a range of course documentation
- Event management and oversight
- Support the programme in terms of course recruitment activities
- Support the programme in terms of monitoring, evaluation and learning systems
- Assist in or lead the preparation of reports for donors and partners
- Participate in the drafting and management of project budgets when required
- Communicate and liaise with key stakeholders and participants, regarding course logistics and processing of course fees
- Liaise with key stakeholders regarding future programmes or events within Executive Education programme
- Coordinate and assist with producing articles for the Executive Education Programme activities for the NMSPG website and support the social media strategy for the Executive Education Programme
- Liaise with administrative staff on programme logistics
The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is between R471 495 and R554 699.
